How to add a 'where am I' map to a Blog

Hi, can anyone offer an easy solution to add a map to my blog that either shows my location or shows my route. If the latter I must be able to change it as I go along. Thanks

Which sw you use for your blog?
If you use Wordpress, then you can use Google Maps Widget to show your location.

If you use a tracker - SPOT or Delorme, that can be done automatically.

Hi, I am using blogger and am not using a spot. I have tried to add a google map with not very good results - probably me! I was wondering if I can use another web site to build a route as I go along and then add the link to this perhaps?

That should do the job.
As per the earlier post, Google maps is popular, such as in this thread http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...2015-a-83568-3

There are some other softwares identified in the link below; I expect most, if not all, of them could post a screen print into a blog or a link for that matter.

I used POI66 back in 2007. Its still going and you upload a GPS co-ord via SMS. It worked well.

POI/France to Goa-2007

POI66 looks ideal but unfortunately, is closing down.

Any other ideas? Especially on a web site where I can add a route, save and link its location from my blog. I have tried a few but after having to register to find out exactly what they offer only to be disappointed, am getting a bit fed up!

Welcome to the internet! How I miss windows 3.1.... never a problem or a crash!

May I suggest to keep it simple? Rather than struggling with links or other frustrations, why not just use an image?
A screenshot is just an image which you can upload anywhere.
So take a screenshot of your route/track/whatever website or Mapsource/Basecamp/GE/GMaps/OzzieEx. Etc
Job done !

Have you looked at "apps" like Map My Tracks - fitness & activity GPS tracker or the new Google "Timeline". Not sure if you can share Timeline at the moment.

With the Google tracking you just need to turn on you location (when travelling and turn it off when you are done. Lot of people are paranoid about Google though :biggrin3:

Also, do a search on "GPS2SMS service" There are a few options there.

Thanks, MapMyTracks looks ok, I will try this. I need to create an event (my trip) then a race (my first route) and I can follow the route on a map. Hopefully I can save and view this.
