When we're at home something like 5000 Km a year, when we're on a big trip 170 Km/day, which has worked out at 49,000 Km in 11 months (South American), 45,000 Km in 10 months (Africa), and 45,000 Km in 10 months (Australia).

So, our answer is A and C.

You're not working undercover for the insurance industry are you :rofl::rofl:

At the start of this year I'd have anticipated my mileage to be somewhere around 30k or so in a variety of vehicles. We had a close to 10k trip in the US planned, a 5k trip to North Africa, and three or four 3k (ish) trips to Scandinavia and the Alps. Add in regular day to day stuff / trips in the UK and I'd easily be over 30k. What I've actually done is 5k in the Land Rover (according to the MOT records), about 3k in my wife's Mini and about 500 on bikes. That's Corona virus and lockdowns for you.

When I was commuting to work and riding the bike at weekends for pleasure around 20,000 miles a year and a similar amount when travelling, now I am retired it is down to more like 2,000 when at home but more while travelling. I now do as many on a bicycle on which I now do four out of five journeys.

I rode around 50 k kms pr year during my 5 years RTW trip. This year I have ridden only around 15 k kms....:(

I find a month or so riding in India every year keeps my defensive riding skills honed to perfection, unfortunately I think next year's refresher is cancelled.

How many miles per year on a motorcycle?
I will put down B

I do not commute and have only been recording distance for the last 15 years. Did not keep records previously.

I have travelled 138,000 miles (220,000km) in the last 15 years (about 9000 miles per year.

brclarke 11 Nov 2020 13:26

Not enough.

Flipflop 12 Nov 2020 12:26

Difficult question as some years will be a lot more or less than others due to varying factors. However the last 20 years have averaged out like so:
Me - 12K miles per year
Wife - 6K miles per year

Tomkat 12 Nov 2020 13:41

"It depends".

When I do my main tour it'll be at least 22,000. Last year when I went to southern Europe it was 10,000. The year before that it was probably no more than 5,000.
