Insurance Query
 

Hi there folks
I have a British registered BMW touring bike that has been wintering in Slovakia. The British MOT and British Insurance has now run out. Does anyone know if its possible to insure the bike for the homeward journey across Europe back to the UK this summer. My Insurance Company (Bennets) won't insure it without a British MOT and the Slovakian companies don't want to because its British registered. There must be a way??? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, that's the way it is designed to work: to keep non-roadworthy vehicles off the road.
The simple answer, from the point of view of the paperwork, is to stick the bike in a van and bring it back to the UK by that means.

If the question is can I ride it legally without an MOT the answer is no but I am sure others have not told their insurance company there is no test or tax and ridden across Europe taking the risk and getting a pre-booked MOT at the closest test station to the port then taxing it online hoping there are no ANPR cameras at the port. Alternatively as has been said it is a van or trailer.
Needless to say you will not be insured if you have an accident.
