Ipods whilst driving!
 

I love this little device and wouldn,t be without it,listening to Outerspace by the prodigy on my 954 fireblade was the closest thing to being in a video game and now doing distance on the Ktm Adv,it,s simply indespensable.
I get it when some people say it,s distracting and you can,t hear the motor etc,but shit this is a modern motorcycle and I.m not expecting it to blow-up.
Finally lets get a little insight into your character by telling us WHO YOU,RE LISTENING TOO WHILE YOU DRIVE.

Hi Al, new Metallica album for me but not on the bike, usually when lifting weights or walking to the store. The plugs fall out of my ears when I put my helmet on :(

I don't reckon the whole "distraction" argument is valid - people listen to music while they drive cars or infact while they do pretty much anything. Music often helps me to concentrate.

Unfortunately I find those little In Ear headphones really uncomfortable. I prefer big coconut stlye muffs which obviously wouldn't work in a helmet. I know you can get helmet with built in speakers, but I've already got a nice, new comfy Hornet. I may as well ask: does anyone know of decent speakers/headphones that you can fit into a normal helmet?

Also, I don't have any specific driving/riding music, it depends on what mood I'm in. Prodigy can be good though.

just been out cruising today with the easy rider soundtrack. stereotypic i kno, but some classics on there who can doubt that? music actually helps lower my heart rate and allows me to ride more comfortably. unfortunately this does not apply to smoking dope as a friend find out whilst on a driving test! do'h!

i tried music on the bike once, didnt like it. odd really as i hardly ever drive without the radio on.

I'm listening to Hiks (breton/drum & bass mix) and The Freza who are Finnish punk/rock, and Goldfrapp, who are well Goldfrapp.

Oh and Sibelius.

The engine,tires,road and the wind make the music that I have listened to for 43 yrs. So far I am not sick of it. Maybe someday but not today.

I listen to my i-pod a lot when on the bike. I've got some Koss earbuds that you roll up like proper earplugs and make a good seal. They're good upto around 60mph before the wind noise gets too much.

As for what I listen to, Dixie Chicks, Alison Krauss, Faith Hill at one end and Evanescence, Nirvana and Bjork at the other. I don't listen to metal when I ride it makes me too aggressive. Off the bike, sure but not on.

I don't find it distracting at all. I can hear the bike and other traffic just fine and when you concentrate on something you don't hear it at all. When you stop and someone talks to you though it's really distracting, then and you have to turn it off to understand them.

Hawkwind is my favorite, just wish I wouldn't need these earplugs.

I super glued a pair of hear phones into the space for the ears I cant' feel them, I ran the leads under the lining and out the front. I ride with ear plugs in and can still hear my music they just drop the overall noise level of the engine and wind. I have to becareful not to play to hard music as I find my riding becomes to aggressive.

I mostly put my ipod on random shffle, however my favorite at the mo for riding is Credence Clearwater Revival, the Chronicles album. If you dont have it, get it. Awesome!!!

Never tried listeniing to music while riding but I'd probably go with Metallica or Rage Against the Machine. BTW, ever tried driving nicely while listening to Animals by Nickelback? Can't be done!

I splurged and got a set of custom ear buds. They nearly eliminate the wind/helmet noise and reduce the effects of air pressure on the ear drums (or so I was told.) I want to protect my ears, the are the only ones I have. With the custom ear buds I can listen to Spanish tapes and understand the lessons while riding down long stretches of highway. I've gotten through 10 lesson, each about 30 minutes long on the trip to Oaxaca.

I do recommend not listening to music periodically to check that nothing is rattling loose...

then into an old classic: The rolling stones - paint it black

from here the music can go anywhere: Coldcut - Timber

The Killers - Human

The Prodigy rock but they do make me speed up, especially Kill the Dancer

then to finish something unusual like: Denki groove - Japanese techno
