This book has a suggested route:
Bikers' Britain: Great Motorbike Rides (Book) by Simon Weir, et al. (2013): Waterstones.com copies for sale on ebay as well, and ignore the Charlie as author bit, he just writes the foreward. The book has quite a few other good other routes in the UK. |
Once in Scotland, my advice would be to stick to the west coast and take in the Bealach na Ba road through the mountains of the Applecross peninsula and then join the A835 towards Ullapool and head north to Durness, you'll see some fantastic scenery and ride some lonely roads on this route. You could then follow the A836 to John o' Groats and blast back south down the A9.

idear?
hi if your thinking of doing an end to end run for only about 300 miles longer you can do the 6 point run, from home ride to the most easterly point Lowestoft Ness Point then up to john o groats (1 of the furthest points) then not far away Dunnet head the most northerly point ,then across to Ardnamurchan Point the most westerly point then down to Lizard Point the most southerly point then finish up at lands end the other furthest point and you have done the 6 point run(the 4 points of the compass and the 2 furthest points) I did this in 1991 on my sr500 hope this helps steve

Hi guyc88v8,
I'm just down the road from you in Yeovil :welcome: I've done the trip you're on about a couple of years back. Are you intending on doing it over a Friday - Monday? I ask as a bunch of us did this run a few years ago and in order to do it in 3 1/2 days we ended up spending most of our time on motorways with our heads buried behind the windscreen trying to cover the miles. Not trying to dissuade you (as I'd love to do it again) but if you're hoping to see any of the country, I'd allow a few more days. Ride safe! Rich |
