Moderators editing members posts?

Does this happen here?

I suspect that it does. I posted on Mr Toad's Portugal thread earlier this evening:

http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...portugal-77421

In my post I included two links to ride reports on Adventure Rider plus a photo of mine hosted on Smugmug. Both links were relevant to the thread, they detailed the route we took, advice on where to stay, the type of terrain we rode, the issues we had plus plenty of great pics.

I checked the thread a few minutes ago to find that my post had been edited, both ride report links and the photo were gone and whoever was responsible for the editing had made a mess of it by also ruining the link to the Cepo Verde campsite.

No one has bothered contacting me about my post, they just went ahead despite nothing offensive being posted. I can only think the reason behind was the connection to Advrider?

I've edited my post to include all links and the photo, if someone wants me to remove the links etc, please have the courtesy to contact me first and explain your reasoning. When I've posted links to HUBB on Advrider, it's never been an issue, why should the opposite be true here?

Its working for me and showing the photo??

Gipper 25 Jul 2014 22:19

Yep, photo up and links working for me OK too

The links and photo are showing because I reinstated them as per my post above. Prior to that, they'd been removed.

To allay any possible paranoia before it kicks off!

Just a thought though- whilst Mods can edit a post if they perceive it necessary (contains inappropriate material-etc)- you will always be able to see which Mod edited the post.
We cannot 'sneak in- change a post- and vanish without a trace.'

I'll hazard a wild guess that maybe only Grant or Susan may be able to do this but lower mortal mods cannot.

An edited post will always show as having been edited ( if it has been)

Unfortunately I didn't think of seeing who was responsible for the editing before reinstating the missing links etc. I do however remember checking the post after I'd submitted it and checking that the links and photo were present & correct.

Edit: I've just check Mr Toad's thread and in post # 9, Mr Toad has fortunately quoted what I saw last night, I obviously only scrolled down to my post (# 6) and then amended it without scrolling down any further.........

Info AFAIK

Mezo
Any moderator edits are visible (I do not know if Grant/Susan who control the software can do any different- you would need to address your question to them).

The person who posts has a time-window when they can edit their own posts without any edits being visible- and that includes adding/removing text & images and links.

If you store images elsewhere (and create a link to them on the Hubb) and they get deleted from, for example, photobucket etc, then the image disappears from the Hubb.
If you upload an image to the Hubb's servers, it stays there unless removed by poster or a Mod.

Only a poster can edit their post within that time frame without the 'post edited' message below the post.

I hope this clarifies things-
Of course, I'm not accounting for what some US spooks have been up to on Facebook as was broadcast on the news this morning ...doh

Mezo, I have edited your post #6 so that you may see the result of a Mod edit. as pic below.
It shows you the time and who did the edit even if the Mod does not enter any text beyond the word: reason:

I've had an innocuous post edited too (and no trace like Bertrand describes either...) See

And I'm meant to be a Mod! I've drawn my own conclusions and am acting accordingly.
