Moscow-Vladivostock Tour review
Has anyone tried this tour, esp. The Moscow-Vladivostock 10,000 k trip? General impression and comments? https://www.rusmototravel.com/tours/...enture#no-back

Presumably the kind of people who hang out here, wouldn't touch a pre-booked tightly-scheduled tour on rails like that with a ten foot pole. :D

Sounds good bout for 10,000 euro..... man alive you could do Europe and Russia for that and still have change left

A quick glance suggests that taking one of their rented bikes is a better deal than bringing your own--with the rental comes free fuel, plus (presumably) all maintenance, insurance, and breakdown services as well. Plus the tour company would then have to transport the bikes back to Moscow at the end. I'm thinking there are other anomalous features, and this would make me a bit nervous about the whole deal.
All of which is aside from the fact that yes, it's not really the sort of thing most of us would ever choose to do, considering the expense and the hurry. |

However, for many 'normal' people, it is a safe-ish way of getting a bit edgy and stepping out of your comfort zone. Me, I'm going through Russia and Ukraine on my own bike, on my own agenda and on my own in May-August next year. Do svidaniya! |
Personally I wouldn’t go on an organised tour because I believe that it’s much safer to travel independently.
My wife went on an organised tour recently and the weather conditions were horrendous to say the least. There had been landslides which restricted possibilities and meant the only roads available were not recommended. Trouble is the hotels are booked, visas have specific dates and schedules have to be met by the tour operator. You can pull out voluntarily but you won’t get your money back. Obviously this was an extreme and unfortunate case but it did happen. If you are independent you can wait out the weather or change your plans/route. But my advice - avoid a heavy scheduled organised bike tour. Good luck |
