ive been planning a euro and morrocan trip for next year,i normally ride a streetfightered zrx 1200,but for this trip i new i needed something a bit more..........practical,so yesterday i went down south and picked this up,roll on next year, ill probably do quite a few uk trips as well just to get a feel for it.

Very nice bike.
I wish you many safe trips with it. |
whats gearbox like, i ride one handed so need to ride clutchless changes at times. I fancied one but heard box is clunky?
|
to be honest andy ive no idea,im just on my way to tax it now then im off for my first proper ride on it,ill be like a dog with dicks(read very happy)
ill let you know as soon as i get back,ok |
Nice bike, dog doesn't look too impressed,
Dave, |
i think the dog would be more impressed if she thought she could eat it
well ive just got back,a steady 100 mile round trip to see a few mates and get a feel for the bike,i love it,appart from the seat that is and the screen,it pulls well,it handles well even in the rain,it was a joy to ride,as i said the only bad bits were the seat and screen, after only 50 miles my arse was starting to hurt,im sure theyll be a after martket one out there somewhere,i'd prefer the screen to be a little higher and wider, the windblast aroung my head was bad, again aftermart should sort it out. next stop ebay:mchappy: Andy the gear box seemed fine,i tryed on at least a dozen times to change clutchless, going up the box no probs at all, comming back down was ok ish as long as you timed it right,i would hate to think i was doing it all the time though,im sure NABD would help with convertions. |
Nice bike i'm thinking of chopping my 2000 dakar for a new 650, i like the tool tube handy storage.
not running the bike on SVO by any chance.?:scooter: regards Gren |
It appears all BMW seats are uncomfortable I use an air hawk on my gs. In fact I'm not far from Doncaster if you want to try it sometime give me a shout
Dave |
The seat does seem narrow, but I really enjoyed the demo one I tried, my mate is getting over 70mpg out of the lower powered version, enjoy it.

I own an F800 as well. I agree with your thoughts about the seat and the screen; they're the first things I changed! A quick search here will reveal plenty of options.
I'm hoping to go down through France and Spain to Morocco next year, too. Enjoy the bike; it's great fun (and 60mpg doesn't hurt when touring, either!). |
