Nomadland
 

Has anyone seen Nomadland yet? If so, does it live up to the hype?

Nope sorry I really wanted to enjoy it.... but nope.

Nomadland is available on Disney+ Star for streaming, so I watched it several nights ago. I have mixed feelings about it. Where I live there are currently a lot of homeless folks living the "van life", and so I'm slightly familiar with the subject matter.

I think that it's a well-crafted and well-acted movie, but the subject matter is rather bleak and depressing. It ends on a somewhat sad note, and overall while I don't at all regret watching it, I can't say I 'enjoyed' it.

I started to watch it hoping for great things -a gritty subject, good performances, interesting storyline etc. I t turns out there were too many bits of grit for me the bother with - thankfully there was a button on the control that said home so we watched something a little more uplifting and less grey - the world isn’t grey, there is so much colour.

I would love to give it a rating but I can’t as I gave up after too short a period of time.
