Prepaid phone card russia
Hi all
I have searched a lot but not found any real satisfying answers yet, hopefully I get one now :mchappy: I'm from denmark and going to russia at the end of this month. Can anyone in here give me some price ideas or webpages were I can see the prices for buying a prepaid simcard in russia to use data in russia and calling home to denmark ?? I am investigating if a prepaid card bought in russia is cheaper than a prepaid card bought from home will have. Thanks in advance :thumbup1: |
here's one:
MTS-Connect a little googling should find plenty more. I can guarantee you that a Russian sim will be cheaper for data, but why would you use a phone to call home rather than one of the umpteen free options (skype, whatsapp, etc.)? |
:) If I could get some reasonable prices I would call home with the phone, as my experience tells me that the connections is much better than skype, messenger and whatnot.
But I am definitely not saying that I will not use that option if prices are too high :mchappy: Thanks for the link, just what I was looking for |
I only use skype or whatsapp for call from russia, and as long as the wifi connection is good, the call quality is usually excellent. If a particular call is bad, hang up and call again.

Hi. There are 4 major cell operators in Russia - MTS, Beeline, Megafon and Tele2.
All of them have pretty good coverage and more or less the same prices. You can get a start-kit (SIM card and some minutes/data) at any store or kiosk dealing with modern gadgets. They are widely available in all big and small cities. You would need your passport to get one. Typical price for a lot of talking and 1G of data would cost about 7-8 euros. Cheers |
