Re-fit hot grips possible?
 

Has anyone successfully removed and refitted hot grips? Can it be done I wonder. The previous owner fitted them poorly, the wire on the right grip interferes with the starter button on my vstrom and gets poked every time I go for the button. Apart from annoying me it may cause early failure of the wire. Just wondering if I can move release and re fit. I guess it all depends on how well it's glued on and what with. Bet it aint wallpaper paste ! If I was fitting new I would probably reach for a knife :confused1:

9/10 you will destroy them if you remove them.. The elements are REALLY thin and the glue is very strong.

I think they design them that way to keep their products being sold.

You can buy wrap around heated grips but they do make make it a bit fat...

Had a real good poke about tonight and came to the same conclusion. I reckon my best option is to live with it until I have to replace them.

Can you get the little red straw that comes with WD40 between the grip and the bar? I've done this by heating the rubber with a heat gun until it's soft then working WD 40 into the gap until the grip slides off.

4 out 4 success rate.
