what is this 'sun' thing i keep hearing about?

Busy old fool, unruly sun,
Why dost thou thus,
Through windows, and through curtains call on us?
Must to thy motions travlrs' seasons run?

Not much of the real thing around these parts atm so metaphysical memories is all I have left. :(
