Tires in Russia
 

Hi: A buddy and I are riding our motorcycles across Russia this summer. We will need tires once we get about half way across (like, say, near Barnaul). Does anyone have any experiences and/or hints about buying tires in that area?

Located not too far from Barnaul, 30kms from Gorno-Altaysk, in Manzherok. (Altay Republic).


They organise motorcycle endure tours and have lots and lots of bikes and a giant workshop that you can use.


They also now have accommodation for travellers. Worth spending a night there. Vladimir is larger than life and a great guy to meet. You will have a great time there.


Send them an email in advance to ask if they have tyres for your bike. Not sure about tubeless tyres for big bikes but they can find it for you. They will help no doubt.

I and many other HUBBers can recommend Dean in Moscow for your Russian tyre needs. In 2012 he sent some to Barnaul and 2013 to Irkutsk for me. He just needs 2 or 3 weeks lead time and they are stored there until you arrive and collect. He sends to many cities in Russia.
