To Tube or not to Tube?
Standard wheels on my Xchallenge do, i think, not allow for tubeless,
Since i drive alone (on- an off-road) through Southern Africa on MITAS 07, Should i stick with tubes or convert to tubeless rims? I am no great mechanic but need to get of puncture zone without help. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...s/comments.gif Thanks! |
Save your money and stick with what you have, put in some tyre sealer and take a spare pair of tubes, I did 20,000 miles in Africa without a puncture there is no more risk there than anywhere else.

even with tubeless wheels good to have a spare tube so as pointed already use what you have. Except spare tubes I carry also heavy duty big zip ties just in case.

Big fan of tubliss. Easy to fit. Simple plugging of punctures.

well,
I had my first flat (rear) and the tube had a different feel going flat than tubeless, with the tube I felt rolling resistance getting "thicker" (if that's the right word) and handling response got sluggish. I actually think it was easier to deal with than tubeless (but the only tubeless I've experience with was 4 wheels). fixing was easy, just like on a bicycle (my scooter has a spare, so I used that to get home and fixed the tube there). |
