Why carnt we buy an adventure bike with a strong aluminim bash plate and some strong hand gaurds fitted ?
Is it down to cost or choice ?

Because the reality is not everyone wants them, and the manufacturer needs to keep the price as low as possible for MOST people.
AND - a very telling comment to me from a nameless high-level person at BMW = "it's important to keep the after-market strong."
And there you have the explanation for a lot of things, like seats - fits MOST people ON the SHOWROOM FLOOR. And not super expensive.
