Oops - More photos than music on that previous post - But a lot of beer had flowed by the time of lantern launch, and more afterwards before dabbling on the HUBB.
But Bravo again for the Haroula Alexiou tango bier, and I hope a couple of sky-bound videos will be OK to introduce a couple more artists. A walk over to Kenley the morning after revealed no Chinese lanterns had landed on the airfield. No, only this taking off. (Somehow, a passing passenger jet neatly synchronised its throttle with this take-off - we're between Heathrow, Biggin Hill and Gatwick here). . And this landing. . The soft whispering sound of the gliders hanging in the sunshine prompted an idea of a singer not yet, I think, posted on this thread: . . And those purring manoeuvrings coming in to land could only lead to...... Late 70s in age - Still teaching her skills to novice Brit..... Helped nicely with the hangover. |

McCrankpin, nice touch after the chinese lanterns , the glider and a finish with "Eartha" the real deal ground control.... I am a MUFON investigator and those lanterns played a part in the Brits opening their UFO files -

I'll offer a something in a slightly different direction. A small introduction first. There have been big changes here over quite a few years, that have variously led to today's posting. After over 30 years of messing about on an old piano, all self-taught (except for learning to read music at school) and strictly for my own entertaintainment, earlier this year I took the plunge and acquired a nice modern digital piano. And more importantly, started for the first time ever, taking lessons. It's possible that, in addition to events over the past few years that led to this new episode, this thread might also have played a part...... So, first up is a musician who composed a novelty piece called 'Champagne'. I have one page of it, printed as an advert in a 1932 album of popular sheet music, that I found years ago in a local junk shop. It's far too difficult for me and I can find no recording of it. But my new lessons prompted me to do some research. I found this Youtube, the same composer, with 'Wet Yo Thumb'. Which I do a lot when thumbing through albums of old sheet music, looking for the simple arrangements. Anyway, that led to another Youtube of a young pianist that I'd never heard of before, playing Zez Confrey's 'Dizzy Fingers'. And it's always the way with these things, one find leads to another as long as you don't abandon the journey. I found that Stephanie Trick was playing four shows at the Isle of Islay Jazz festival, just a few weeks ago. So there I dashed. And this is my little bit of filming. 'Death Ray Boogie' by Pete Johnson 'Honky Tonk Train Boogie', an improvisation on a blues composition by Meade Lux Lewis. There are eight distilleries on this small island. My, how the music, and the single malt, flowed! . |
