Croation Ferrys
Hi we are traveling to Zadar Split area in September 2013, will I have to pre book ferrys in the middle of September to Ancona.
|
Post school holidays and before the end of the summer schedule (end of September) so you would be very unlucky to not get a spot, worst case is likely that you would have to wait a day or two. You get a choice from three lines, SNAV, Jadrolinija, and Blue Line.

I've been on ferries in Croatia the last two summers in August. We never booked. Just rock up and by the tickets.
Even the one from Italy to Dubrovnik was that simple. Dan |
Done a few crossing round that area. As been said, just turn up, on a bike. Pay the money, and they will get you on. One crossing I was on, there must have been about 50 bike's on board. All lashed up to the side. As all the ring's where taken. Never yet found a ferry crossing that they could not get an extra bike on. Don't worry, you will be all right.

I just took the ferry from Split to Ancona a few days ago on Jadroliniya.
I booked ahead, although I don't think it was necessary--most of the vehicles on the ferry were huge trucks, meaning that there were actually fairly few passengers, and you can always squeeze in another bike on ships this big. |
