London to Australia - 2018
 

Hi Folks,

I am planning a solo trip from London to Australia in Aug/Sep 18 - So lots of info gathering at the moment, if you can add anything please do so....

The route is not finalized yet as still need to decide the China/Pakistan/India/ Mayanmar trick border crossing...

If you travel through the stans and wish to cross from Kyrgyzstan down through China and Pakistan, make sure you are around that area by start of November at least i'd say. Gets bloody cold in that area and the roads slick with snow and ice. From what i've read the Khunjerab pass can close anywhere between end of November and end of December depending on the weather.

And be sure to have your Pakistan visa sorted in your home country, otherwise you will be posting your passport back to the Pakistan embassy back home.

yes!!! missthebry is absolutely right. you need to apply for Pakistan visa in your home country and Pakistan/China border crossing road opens in April to November. so please keep that in mind :) best wishes

What's the state of Karakoram Hwy? I remember, a portion of the Hwy had been submerged under an artificial lake around Attabad due to an earthquake induced landslide.

Just did a 3 week trip to Pakistan in July, including KKH. It was all great, with no hold up's. One piece of advice is make sure you have working lights on your bike, because there is one very long and very dark tunnel to get through not fun trust me! It was very hot apart from the kunjarab pass and on top of the Dosai and gets hotter the further south you go.
