Hi everyone, I'm pretty new in this forum that i found searching for a live change travel.

I'm from spain and my idea is travel by motorbike through india, pakistan, nepal and so on. It's no very clear the travel plan for now. But i need i bike and i'm trying to figure out how to buy a brand new royal enfield bike there and use it for the travel and come back to europe with it to finish the travel.

How do you think is the better country to buy the bike? I'm really starting now the search for info and if someone can help will be a very helpful. Thankssss

You are not the first person to want to buy a Royal Enfield in India and to come back to Europe with it. There are a couple of problems.

The first is that to buy a bike in India you have to be an Indian resident. This can be worked around but you have to have someone else’s name on the ownership documents - that means you will need official paperwork to leave India. Nepal is an easier alternative but the bike is more expensive.

The second problem is that you may find that the bike you have ridden across Asia and Europe home cannot be used without undergoing tests to make sure that it meets EU emissions tests.

There is a You Tube channel for a lady called Itchy Boots who bought a bike in India as I described but was not able to register it in Netherlands after her trip. The You Tube channel is a good watch as well. Her journey from India to Netherlands is her Series 1.

You would have to get it homologated before registration here in Spain, which might involve changing some parts (possibly things like the ECU, exhaust, lights).

I think that when Itchy Boots bought her first Himalayan there was a bigger difference between the domestic and EU specifications than there is now.

An alternative would be to get a Himalayan here (there's lots of cheap low km 411s at the moment), ride it in the other direction, and then get it shipped back in a crate.

International shipping isn't something I know much about, but IIRC there are agents that specialise in individual vehicle shipping - they would be a good starting point (and maybe ending point).

On this forum would be a good place to ask, in the right sub-forum with a clear title since most people skim through and might not read this thread!
