Costs of SA trip?
 

Hey there,

Being a newbie on this forum and to adventure motorcycling in foreign lands I wasn't quite sure where to post this...

I am considering a trip to SA on my KLR650 and was trying to estimate a ballpark figure of total costs (excluding bike, equipment, and prep.)

It seems shipping, various permits and fees, food and lodging, parts and repairs would be the bulk of the costs. Am I missing anything else? If you have ever gone from US to SA, can you estimate how much money was actually spent on the road?

The prices for me were similar in Central America, higher in Mexico. Budget $450 to fly your moto to South America from Panama, and $380 for yourself. (Possible to do it for less with a sailboat, use the search function to find the threads...)
