Gas Tank Size Restrictions In Euope?

I have the installed the Touratech 41L Fuel Tank for R1150GS Adventure on my motorcycle. I am planning on taking my 1150ADV to Europe but I have recently heard a rumor that some European countries will not allow me in their country due to the size of the tank I have. Is this rumor true?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

Specs on the tank:

Being of a nautical bent I would say 'rollocks' :)

never heard of such a thing either.

changingthe subject somewhat,, does anyone know the situation regarding motorcycle and sidecars. As I understand it it is illegal in the UK to mount a sidecar on the right thus disabling the possibilty of 2 wd from a ural.
would it be legal to ride a french reg bike rigged out with a Right hand sidecar???

Fairly definite yes to riding a French registered outfit in the UK. The rules regarding a r/h chair particularly with respect to a UK registered Ural are well documented on this page http://www.f2motorcycles.ltd.uk/rhsidecars.html

41L tank

Shouldn't be any problem. Otherwise Acerbis or TT wouldn't sell them for the European market. I've been riding through quite a few countries with mine and have even passed the roadworthiness test ;-)

I've been running around Europe for over 10 yrs with a 40lt tank on an XR600 without any problems.

Hi, I know several people here in Norway that have 44L tank on their bmw R--GS, I also have it on my bike. I have newer heard of any problems about it.

As far as I know there is no rules about the size of fueltanks i Norway or in EU

Yep, complete bollox.

I also have the TT 41 litre tank on my GS and never had any problems in Europe.

Enjoy long rides!
