I don't know where you can buy them, but there is a Garmin Topo for Southern Africa - MapID 1215.
Also a street map with MapID 1214

We used Tracks 4 Africa and found it to be fantastic. Excellent information for the traveller and super accurate. Some of their maps are even routable!
