Ok, the serious question - where can we get a beer in Erzurum?
It is a serious question! We are stuck here waiting for Iranian Visa after being badly let down by IranianVisa.com and we are in a hotel with no beer. We have trawled the shops and sneakely tried to find a beer.
Anybody know? Cathy and Bernard PS - white wine a must! www.worldtour.org.uk |
He he I also had to re-apply for my Iran visa in Erzurum due to being stuffed around by the Istanbul mob. Ten days in Erzurum is a very long time!!
There is a pub just off the main street. If you walk up the main street from the Police Staion turn left down the street by the park. From memory the pub is in a side alley about 30 or 40 metres down the side street. Look out for the pink grouting in the brickwork. It's a bit of a dive but at least the beer is good. Kenny |
failling that
viamichelin.com says your 43h 33min, 4195 km from me and I've got some in my fridge, your more than welcome to help yourself. :scooter:

sitting laughing in Erzurum
Oh God thanks folks for both responses - it's a bit far to travel 4000+ for a beer but your kindness is greatly appreciated (Cathy has just asked have you any white wine as she is seriously tempted!)
Off to find something to eat down town and we know the police station; not personally we hasten to add but we have passed it many times in our hunt for the elusive beer! Is this the one further down the road from the Iranian Embassy as the 'park' reference does not register? We are in Palendoken and it is getting colder. Need a warm beer! We'll let you know if we do find it - don't suppose you have the coordinates do you? (sits laughing as there is nothing else to do!) Catch you soon Cathy and Bernard (dying of thirst) www.worldltour.org.uk |
Oh yeah Chein Blanc, but she will have to get it out of the wifes hands, which could be difficult. Were heading that way on route to India next year so I'll make a note of the address if you find a pub. This could start a new topic " living on the road.......... were to find a beer" it would sit nice on the lefthand side in between "Living on the road" and "Saftey & health on the road"

I have drunk beer in that town - there is a bar hidden away where only the deeply sad go. Can't remember where though. Sorry.
Keep looking. Simon |
success - well sort of!
Problem solved thanks to Fergus and Ashablue who turned up at our hotel and set of in search - he must have a hell of nose as he was back with the amber nectar before I had a chance to even find glasses!
God it was good but Cathy is still in deep throes of 'waiting' as no wine - tonight I set off in search of wine otherwise she has threatened to go on strike! IF I find the same place as Fergus found (THE outdoor / off license) I will get the coordinates and post them for future alcoholics. Catch you all later. Cathy and Bernard |
anybidy need to find a beer in Erzurum?
Well my friends - at great cost to myself and Cathy I must pass on the following details.
ESEF sign is to be found at: N39 53.337 E41 15.836 ESEF is the name of a beer (I found out) and you may see the sign (if you are lucky) as you drive around. For now, you can also find a beer in several other places: The Palendoken Ski Lodge (it's is expensive here but a very nice Chardonnay can be had) is not far away! Chris and Wes (two other people stuck here due to IranianVisa.com - may they only meet de-flowered woman in the after-life) found somewhere else and they may post the location. Off to pop another can! Cathy and Bernard www.worldtour.org.uk |
