Bolivia.... what's the score?
 

I've just heard about the shootings of protesters in bolivia (miners unhappy with their pay) resulting in more roadblocks. Anyone know what the situation is at the moment, as i'm on my way there towards la paz in the next couple of days..?

Last week we were in Bolivia (La Paz - Oruro - Potosi - Villazon) & rode to within 25km of where 16 people were killed in miners riots only 2 weeks earlier(Huanuni, south of Oruro). Apparently the police were on to it with 600 riot police! There were no issues with road blocks. Although things can change quickly, I would thing if you stick to the more main routes you won´t have a problem. We heard lots of stories of theft in La Paz, but I thinks its pretty normal (perhaps a bit hyped up) you just need to be careful.
