Colombia- Ecuador- Peru
 

Just returned from Lima last night. Started in Bogotá, went all the way down to Lima.
Tons of army and policemen everywhere.flight from Panama to Bogotá was us$400.00 and the release by Girag in Bogotá was quick and professional.
Never felt so safe and happy for the decision NOT to skip Colombia: Beautiful people, food and roads. Felt safer than in my hometown Rio de Janeiro.

Glad you liked it, John. I really recommend Colombia. In fact, from all the countries we passed, Colombia - Ecuador and Peru were the best so far. If I could, I would have started our trip in Colombia instead.
But I hear that the best part is still to come: South of Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.
If you do not stay in fancy hotels, restaurants, you can do it with less than 50 usd a day, dividing the hotels with a buddy.
