Yea, I know, I shouldn't have gone there alone, but that doesn't justify that jackass from putting a pistol in my ear cause I wouldn't snork coke with him. Ever seen how fast a R1100GS goes with a mad white boy at the helm. All I can say is be careful and watch out........................ Your terse little post has piqued our interest , but being written in the style of sensationalist news headlines it does not give us any useful new information.Again another story of how "dangerous " Mexico is.
How did you get yourself into a situation where a freaked out drug addict could put a gun to your head trying to force you to take drugs ? Was he a crazed Mexican druggy or a tourist ? Did he just step out onto the road somewhere in the hairpin descent to the Batopilas valley and pull out his gun ? Or were you already letting your guard down, imbibing some entry level drug with a new acquaintance in a booze joint in town ?
I will withhold , for now, any judgement but I expect there is more to the story that you are not clarifying. Perhaps some bad decisions were involved?
Please elucidate so that the readers can get the whole picture , to learn fom your mistakes to avoid similar situations.
PS now after several days I checked your previous posts - all 3 - and see that two weeks ago you wrote virtually the same terse tale .Another poster also asked for more detail also,yet here you are again with the sensationalist teaser. Either come up with the details or forget about it.

OK, I can give you more details........ I was trying to help, not be a sensationalist and that means warning people. calm down. I was stopped beside the road taking pictures about 2-3 miles off the asphalt on the road to Batopilas. These guys pulled over and walked up to me. I didn't say they were freaked out. You imagined that part. They were in Cadaliac escapades, or what ever they are. Two brand new SUV's. One ask me if I was alone, which was kind of obvious. yes, I was. The guys in the rear SUV got out and started shooting rifles into trees and valley. The older (60's) guy initiated conversation with me, while another stood in front of me taking his fountain pen apart, which had my attention. he poured himself a snort, then offered me one which I refused as nice as I could. they became upset, ask me if I was a cop, accused me of being a cop and said finally while Putting the pistol in my ear, "What the f--- are you doing in Mexico if you don't do drugs?" That's when I headed for my bike, about 20 feet away. yes, it rattled me to turn my back on this pistolero. I wondered where they were for the next 8 hours as they were headed for batopilas also. Like I said, I'll never go alone again, and i can't wait to go back. Anyone up for a trip about next April, let me know.

You have every reason to be rattled.
The instruction from this episode is to be ever alert when travelling the main higways and backroads, especially in areas known to have a higher ratio of drug growing/smuggling/dealing as is the case in the Sierras of Chihuahua.
These guys driving a Cadillac Escalade were obviously into big money and drugs, probably some of the drug cartel guys- or judging from their described use of English US drug seeking tourists trying to live the life of swaggering death dealers south of the border .
The best policy when stopped at such roadsides alone or in a group ,whether for a whiz or to take some scenic photos ,is to keep an alert ear for any traffic coming and to be ready to move out on the bike the instant they show signs of
coming to a stop. This also goes for watching out for buses or taxis which stop near you and let of a male passenger; he could just be a local heading home but could also be a bushwahacker who sees an oportunity to mug you.
There is little to be gained from waiting for strangers of unknown intent to just stop for a talk. If tourists want to talk to the locals it is best to wait until in a more urban setting, in a village , in a store, someplace where there is a group of regular people and where you are the one to initiate the contact .
Now it might also be a good idea to check out the mugshot gallery of Americas Most Wanted TV program . Maybe you encountered some of the very creeps that they are tracking , fugitives from American justice, and you might be able to supply some useful tips.
