Las Palomas
 

A friend and I are planning to cross into Mexico at Columbus/Puerto Palomas this coming Monday, April 7. In looking into Columbus, I ran across a couple of recent newspaper articles about unrest in the area immediately south of the border; i.e., the drug cartels are shooting each other. One article said the Mexican feds sent 100 troops into Palomas.

Anyone have any first hand, current information about the situation there, or about that particular crossing in general?

In my original post I should have said we'll be en route from Price, Utah to the Copper Canyon area, then points further south. On V-Stroms.
