Libya and Sudan
I would like to go from Tunisia via Libya- Sudan to Kenya. How is the actual political situation /banditry in Libya and Sudan? Could this two countries to considered be safe? Any recommendations?
Thanks and cheers joe ------------------ |
Libya is very safe, it compares to rural USA (like, Nebraska). Sudan is quite another story. I can't comment on Sudan because I have not been there recently, but I think it is pretty dangerous still.
Concerning Libya, the country has a fairly small population - about 5 million - except for Tripoli and Benghazi, it is pretty much a rural, agrarian country - nice folks everywhere, I have been there frequently on business and never had any security concerns at all. I hope to get there on my bike sometime in 2004. Getting a visa can be a PITA, though. I have a multiple entry business visa, but do you think I can get a single entry tourist visa? Doh.... can't show up on a moto at the border with a business visa, rats. PanEuropean |
Hi,
I only know the conditions for German citizens to enter- but they should be the same for Canadians. Fot a one entry visa You need: 1. 2 photos 2. Visa formular ( green) 3. A translation of Your passport in Arabic which You probably have? 4. An invitation of somebody in Lybia. You can get with a travel agency, at least in Germany. keep in mind 45 days after validation of the visa you have to enter the country. Normally You can stay 30 days with extension possibility. WHhen You do all this staff with the travel agency check out all other things how the bike can enter.:: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif)) Best wishes- if You have furtehr questions go ahead.
