I was planning a trip from KTM to BKK in the next two months.

Seems like the NE-states in India are not doing very well, as we speak.

Anybody around with the latest news from the area?

I'm planning a trip to Manipur next month. From what I've read even though the situation is not the best it should be generally safe to travel there. What cities are you planning to visit?

Was ther twice in the last 3 years. No issues. Ran into a strike zone, but the police just gave me an escort and everything was cool. I believe the Myanmar crossing can only be arranged through an agency if you plan on using your own vehicle. And the cost is not cheap!
