Motorbike dealers in Africa
Hi there,
Does anyone have any information on dealers for my motorbike in African Countries? Thanx! Corné |
Well, it depends on which brand it is....
If it's a BMW most African countries have a bmw-carshop and at least they can order parts for you (you don't have to mess with the customs, post/DHL and pay taxes in two countries). If you have a bike used by the police or army it's good. They have a lot of parts and old bikes. |
It's af Honda Africa Twin and a Yamaha XT600...I'm especially interested in dealer in South AFrica...

Hello Corne,
there is a link on krid.de for Honda dealers in Africa http://www.krid.de/pics/africa/hondadealers.gif Suppose you are taking ANWB - IRK for parts? Groet'n Meindert |
He Meindert,
Great tip! I have an IRK, but still doubting whether I should keep it for next year. What's the advantage? Ook groet'n Corné |
There is a KTM dealer in Lome, Togo about 3 or 4km east of the Ghana border on the coastal road.
They carry a range of spares incluing some tires (18inch rears and 21inh fronts). |
What about other KTM dealers in Africa? I know there's Alfie Cox in South Africa, but am more interested in Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt, Lybia, Niger... ?

Hi, there is a KTM dealer in Langata, Nairobi, Ian Duncan of Sports Motorcycles, good selection of tyres but very expensive, about 200 Pounds Sterling for a pair of Pirelli MT21's

Hi Corne,
In Johanannesburg most (and there are a lot of them) motorcycle shops are concentrated in one or two streets. Easiest way to find them: Buy a Motorcycle magazine when you enter SA. There is a very helpfull (yamaha/Honda) dealer in Vereeniging (South of Johannesburg). His name is Bauman if I remember well. (If he's still there... I was in SA more then 10 years ago.....) Peter |
