new bolivian law
yesterday i tried to enter bolivia at tambo quemado(arica-oruro).
immigration went easy then i hid custom.they told me that one person can not enter bolivia with 2 vehicles it is not in the system.i am traveling with motorhome and bike.about a year ago i did enter bolivia at yacuiba two times with the same combination. the f....custom agent told me that this has been ilegal.they aparently phoned with the national customs at la paz and denied me entrance to bolivia. i will now try to enter via bermejo. bolivian authorities are certainly a copy of the former east european authorities:arrogant, unfriendly, completly indifferent, good for nothing and they have no idea about the meaning of the word:work. all the can do is asking for:coima, contribution and ayuda por la familia it was the first time in my life that some f... stupid idiot denied me entry into a country and i have seen some parts of the world. happy travels to all geri |
Law as written and the law as enforced may be different, but often the written law has been there forever and it is just a change in enforcement.
This same law applies in Mexico and isn't always enforced either. Often there are two people on board so there is one vehicle attributed to each person, or if one vehicle is classed as a motorhome with a 10 year TIP then the same person can take that in plus a vehicle on a regular 180 day TIP. Pick up a hitchhiker to take the bike in provided y he can enter you as an authorised driver you will have no problems if he isn't with you later |
