Reporting a missing person !!!
Hi Guys,
I need a little help, a friends partner is currently sailing around the world; He’s alone and it’s not unusual he only call in every 1 or 2 weeks…. Of course nothing has been heard and everyone’s becoming concerned. He was last in the region of West Soma where he would look to have a few jobs done to the boat. He has a Satellite phone – which I imagine inst effected with all that’s going on. Does anyone know the correct procedure to report a missing person. I imagine contacting the embassy but don’t know which or do we need to report it to a governmental organization. In the meantime, I’ve suggested they notify the Belgium Embassy in Kiribati that he was last known in their neighbourhood. Boat name GANNET registrared Belgium last known location Tarawa heading to Kiribati If anyone can offer me a few pointers, I would be grateful. Kind regards Matt |
Hi there, I would suggest getting in contact with Interpol.
They have offices everywhere in the world, who might be able to help you with the right procedure to take about making a "missing persons claim" Good luck. I'm sure they speak english at this head office. INTERPOL General Secretariat 200, quai Charles de Gaulle 69006 Lyon France Tél : +33 (0)4 72 44 70 00 Fax: +33 (0)4 72 44 71 63 |

do u know the radio signal code.If nothing works, radio signals do.You can track on his APRS system.
This is the link where you can check and track to see where the radio signals from. Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions |
Thanks guys, I thought there would be some sort of online vessel tracking, but I’m totally amazed how little the family know about his plans, yacht and security equipment…
I’ll keep you posted. Kind regards |
