Russian Check point Kazan
 

Watch out for police at the checkpoint 50kms WEST of Kazan, Russia. I was held up for more than an hour as I refused to pay 20 dollars " so that I may go". They made me empty everything from bike and pockets. I did not pay. The next check point 30ks further east I was stopped again..I think a phone call was made..I was not held up here though. I should say that this is the first negative experience in Russia...otherwise everyone has been great.
