Trip Report - Turkey to Vladivostok (Overland)
 

Hoping this spurs those that are sitting on the fence or wondering how to break the COVID slump. For obvious reasons I have only met one foreign overlander from Dubai in a UAE registered Land Cruiser. (he shipped RORO Dubai/Vladivostok and then drove via Yakutsk to Magadan where I met him) The above trip I started end of July and have been in Vladivostok for about a week now, getting turbo repaired and then heading off to Sakhalin Island via the ferry at Vanino. Amazing trip, thanks to Daniel Sprague for excellent advice and help when needed and other comments/suggestions from everyone else on the site. Urging everyone with Russian plans, as soon as you can get a visa get here, still one of the most unexplored wildernesses on the planet, and you will be shocked by the kindness and help you will receive. I was blown away, of all my journeys one of the best by far. Happy to answer and help with any direct questions.

How did you get the Russian Visa?

Also what is your plan after Sakhalin? Is the ferry between Japan still operating?

As a citizen of Mauritius I don't need a visa for Russia - after Sakhalin I will go back to the mainland and drive via the Altai mountains to Saint Petersburg - my Land Rover and Honda CRF (attached on a mounted trailer) are in an exhibition there from mid-January.

Any covid checks at the border? Vaccine cert or PCR?
