The countries that aren't covered by standard european cover will sell you insurance at the border, this is how I got through. Don't think that it is fully comp though, so just don't crash!

Number plates
I was in North Africa when the latest Gulf thing was kicking off. There was no hassle, most people don't care less unless you do/say something stupid.
However, a basically correct UK numberplate (yellow) with illegal spacing and a few taped on dashes looks Dutch. Everyone loves the Dutch. A Dutch flag or EU where the GB sticker goes is a little more iffy (you are supposed to have the GB but no one cares) but maybe adds that degree of separation from what our politicians are doing if you find it useful. Your paper work matches, so local cops are happy. The only place you'd get pulled is back in Blighty! Not sure how you'd get the plate with the new rules though. Internet suppliers? Feel free to use or ignore these facts as you find them useful or not. Don't name me in court if the bike fails the MOT when you get home :eek3: Andy |

Insurance
I went through the Balkans a couple of years ago.
I'me insured fully comp with Carol Nash - which includes breakdown etc. I was covered fully comp (with all other benefits) through all EU countries as well as Croatia. It cost an extra £27 per week to extend the full insurance for Bosnia as well. |
Insurance and Balkans
I am leaving on Friday to head thru the Balkans and on to Jordan.
I have failed miserably to get Devitt to give me anything which goes beyond the EU! After 3 times of asking I have lost the will to live and will just buy at the border(s) and ride v carefully.:( |
