I just came through Honduras yesterday, the border was open and no problems getting in and out. I only stayed one night in Honduras, the village of Nacaome, then exited to Nicaragua the next day. Locals told me gasoline was available, however the gas station i stopped at near the Nicaraguan border did not have any, although neither did the one on the Nicaraguan side, so i don´t know if this was because of the crisis.
There is a curfew currently from about midnight until 4 or 5 in the morning. Some of the locals i talked to seemed to think it was a good thing in terms of reducing crime. Sean |

Honduras august 19
Howdy from Granada, Nicaragua!
12 august crossed el Salvador to Honduras at El Amatillo. El sal side is simple, and for Honduras got a great Tramitadore (marvin, or marBEEN in Spanish). Very aggresive trams here but not a big deal. Honduras is complicated, lots of copies stamps more copies bank more stamps etc. 3 hours. No curfews in southern provinces right now. Crossed out today at el espino and it was a simple affair. No problems at this time in honduras going from el sal to nica. But you can bet if Zelaya was on his way to el espino things would be different! forward |
