50cc motorcycle insurance

i know in many european countries 50cc riders do not need insurance. I have been given a 50cc bike and planned on using it for a trip through the following countries:-
France
Netherlands
Belgium
Germany
Poland
Lithuania
lativa
Russia

Would i need to purchase insurance for the above countries on a 50cc motorcycle. I have tried searching google but found nothing substancial. Sorry is this may appear a stupid question.

You will need insurance for the UK. from that is probably on the insurance that you are covered throughout eec.. but check. You may not need it everywhere, but then you would be held resposible for any damage/injury someone else might choose to try to blame you for. the cost will be minimal so i see no point in not having insurance.
I have a third party only policy with medicare as an option. It costs me 86 euros a year for my 1985 bmw r80rt...and is valid throughoutthe eec and all french territories... much as i wouldlove to ride around martinique, cant see it happening :(

In the Netherlands, you'll need insurance for a 50 cc

Hey,

in Belgium you'll need insurance too. For approximately 100 euro you have an insurance for one year that covers you all over Europe and even up to Iran and Morocco. One police check without insurance (in Belgium) will probably cost you more.
Have fun on your trip,

Koen
