Anybody know this guy and know what he is carrying around on his amazing worldtrip. I saw this bike at a petrolstation near the Spanish / French border. I have looked around but couldn't find the driver, sadly.

Now, THOSE are a pair of hard-panniers I can endorse without hesitation...:thumbup1: I've been using the same for the past 25 years.

I read an article about that guy a while ago when he was in Germany. If I remember correctly he's Russian and travelling the world on a budget. Whenever he can he tries to earn some money to continue travelling.

I keep looking for the article in the archives but can't find it :(

For those who don't speak German: his name is Vladimir Yarets, he's 60 something, deaf-mute and started his trip on a Jawa in 2000. Had a horrible accident in Illinois in 2003, broke 28 bones in his body and continued his trip after seven months of rehab. He was given a BMW F650GS by a Chicago business man whom he met during rehab and who was very impressed by his story.

most appreciated..certainly has interesting adventure stories..I wish he doesn't keep in silence and we can read them somewhere soon...a real myth in the adventure world...

I met him in Dublin last year!!!! He stopped in the city centre by the Spire and there was a deaf-mute guy with him that could write in English, so I was able to "talk" to him for a few minutes using short sentences on my mobile's display :) Only a few minutes, because I was on my way to work... And I wish I had taken my camera with me on that day :/

Yarets is an unbelievably optimistic person, full of energy and so positive about life and adventures! I would like to meet him once again during my own journey this year.


Ronvk62, don't worry, it is always possible you come accross him once again. His journey doesn't seem to be coming to an end! I hope I will meet him this year during my journey.

I think it is an advocate for hard panniers, if you think about it because the panniers have wheels on if he gets stuck or falls over they act like staberlisers :scooter: well if I ever meet him I will buy him a beer good luck on him
