I suffer from sleep apnea and use a small CPAP machine to assist with my breathing.
As you can well appreciate, it is difficult to power such an appliance off of a bike.
Are there any riders who have this problem and if so how did you solve the power usage problem?
I do a lot of off-roading with my 4x4, and use a second battery to power this appliance and thus do not have this problem.
Would it be possible to have a second battery charged off of the bike's alternator?

Hi, I just phoned a guy for advice and it is as follows. If it's a large air compressor, no chance on a bike-too big. If it's a small unit, JUST possible but still unlikely. This is both off a second battery. He said a tiny tyre inflation compressor would flatten a battery in a couple of hours. I stressed the need for the rider to find a solution but he's sceptical. His suggestion was a sensor to detect stoppage of breathing and starting an air supply from a small air tank. What about asking hospital, military and paramedic staff? For that matter maybe in submersible industry? Lastly alternator will never have a chance on its own. A compressror takes a huge current, one of the worst things to try to run. Linzi.

There's another traveller out there on a bike who carries a tiny one, and he's delighted with it. Currently on his second RTW.
