Book suggestions please
I have read several books on overlanding in Africa. Jupiter travels being my favourite, others like into africa.
Can anyone suggest some African over landing books which were written very recently, some books that cover the west coast route and cover camping mainly rather then hotels. The books do not need to match all of my criteria. Even if it only matches one please can I hear some suggestions. I have just purchased a kindle as I have noticed some books are starting to only come out on kindle. (cheaper publishing maybe?) If someone is in the UK and fancies selling some that they have I don't mind that either. |
One of my favourite motorcycle books and kinda matching your requirements:
Running with the Moon, Jonny Bealby Running With The Moon: A Boy's Own Adventure - Riding a Motorbike Through Africa: Amazon.co.uk: Jonny Bealby: Books |

Lois Pryce and Sam Manicom's books are great reads.

If yoou want a good read about African travel but one that will not be particularly relevant to travelling today I would suggest The rugged road, Theresa Wallach.
This is the story of two women who made possibly the first trans-Africa trip by motorcycle or any other motorised vehicle in the 1930s, what they had to do back then shows how much more resourceful travellers were in the past often not having a clue what lay ahead in the way of roads, or no roads and repairs, a great read. |
Bearback
