One BAM is equal to one DM (or DEM), the old Germany currency. Thereby the exchange rate to EUR is fixed at 1,95583 (BAM to EUR). So the exchange rate floats with the EUR-GBP one.

Normal banks don´t exchange BAM, but in my hometown there are exchange banks in the main railway station, that exchange nearly all currencies of the world - definitly including BAM. Maybe in your town, too?
But their spread is nasty, really nasty for such exotic currencies.
