Brittany Ferries and my broken bike
Hi. I am trying to get my bike back to UK but she is totally dead. Engine blown.
I am booked on a Brittany Ferry from Santander to Portsmouth. Out of courtesy I called them to say the bike needed to be pushed on the ferry by me. They tell me that's not possible. The bike must be on a recovery vehicle. Has anyone tried just pitching up with a bike in bits? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk |
I believe another member of this forum once pushed her bike onto a cross channel ferry and off at the other end once, I would just turn up and see what happens, at worst you will have to organise recovery which is what you will have to do anyway. I would not mention you have already been told no.

Ditto the above. I have witnessed someone push a dead Pan European on to a ferry from Le Havre. Allow plenty time as it is a long way from check in on to the vessel and may require pushing the machine up a steep incline to get on board.

Maybe when you get there you can hook up with someone who would be willing to tow you on the ferry?

I literally pushed my bike once in the Ferry from Tanger to Algeciras. A rescue vehicle pick it up in Asilah, carry the bike to Tanger, the bike passed all security controls on the truck, and I pushed it like 200 metres. No problem at all.
No idea if it is different from Santander to Portsmouth... How are you planning to transport the bike from Algeciras to Santander? |
