Do you know what this beetle is?
looks like yours may have gone from Scotland to Mali where I saw this little fellow crawling on my tent.
Its back opened up, wings came out and it flew off making more noise than a bumble bee on full power!

ooh, I thought it was just a stag beetle, they are big!

I don't have my wildlife book to hand i'm afraid!

Dor Beetle or Dung Beetle

This was a biggie with a slight blueish sheen.

I didn't know they got as far as Scotland! Busy little things!

And those pictures were taken on the Womens' Hubb meet near Dumfries!

My mum once rode off with one in her helmet. That freaked her out when she got down the road! Note to self, don't leave helmet lying in the grass!
