Carnet or not
Hi there, Im biking fgrom Europe to SA, or thats the plan. Is it possible to go without carnet( for example registering my bike in the south so I can move there freely too) or is it best to just take the damn thing with me? Pro s & con s?
Would like to leave my bike in SA with a friend... The carnet would cost me 325 €. Thanks for any comments Cheers Kenny ?c? |
Do you plan to do the east route over egypt, oder the westroute over Mali/Nigeria?
For the east route you will need* a carnet. On the west it is optional. With a carnet and an insurance for africa you dont need any cash at the borders. No money exchange and bad rates for exchange, no hassle. But you have an Counter - after a year you have to renew the carnet... If you loose your bike during your journey using a carnet, you probably have to pay a lot of taxes and fees. Here I catch any Links about the carnet, most of them back 2 HuBB. You will even find a link for crossing egypt with a TIP. It is africa, near everything is possible... At the same time you will find links where the travellers got stranded at the egypt border - and has to optain the carnet. 4x4tripping: Suchergebnisse für carnet Up2you. Surfy |
