Documenting your trip without laptop

My wife and I hope to start a European trip in 2025 on motorcycle. We did the Panamerican in a van a few years ago.

In a van, it was easy to carry a laptop, and edit pictures and videos for our family and friends. We decided not to do a blog, instagram or Vlog. Just sharing pictures/videos on Facebook for immediate family and friends.

We'd like to do the same on our European trip, but I'm not keen on taking a laptop with us. We won't have the convenience of a van to work in, and damage to a laptop on a moto carries a higher risk.

What do you recommend for storing your pics/videos from drones or action cams to do with them later. Most pics will be done with our phones, so can store pics/videos on the cloud. But drone and action cam footage is harder to transfer to the cloud or an external hard drive without a laptop.

What options are there?

I use an iPad for making notes on the days trip.
Photos are on my phone also
I did carry my MacAir on both my Thailand/Laos trip in 2014 and my Balkans trip in 2015 with no problems, even when I came off the bike. As they are made from aluminium and not plastic.
You could use a cloud based storage system for uploading your videos using hotel or cafe WiFi
I use https://filen.io/ for my cloud based storage, 17.99 euro for a lifetime 100gb of space. End to end and zero knowledge encryption. They also offer a free 10gb. Then you will be able to access them from anywhere

iPad is fine. Get one with USB-C and a card reader to transfer the footage from the cards via hard wire, not WiFi. Maybe get a USB-C ruggedized hard drive, you can get multiple terabytes for cheap now. Cloud storage obviously also a good option, but implies you'd have a good connection and unlimited gigs.

You can do pretty good initial video editing on an iPad - either iMovie, or you can even get an iPad version of Davinci Resolve.

I brought my old iPad Pro with a keyboard case with me on my RTW trip (mostly public transport) and it was absolutely fine, including for work.
