Extra fuel for nordkapp??
Hi all, another Nordkapp question I’m afraid… planning to go up on a GS (20l tank) solo camping trip next year once this bug has blown over, do I need an extra fuel carrier someplace onboard or is fuel plentiful all the way up top - looks pretty remote. Your experience is appreciated. Many thanks. See you on the road. J.

The simple answer is no! Not at all. But bring a card so you can fill up when you want. About 99,99 % of all fuel buyers pay for fuel by card in Norway. Remote gas stations tends to close early - but have pumps with a card automat so you can pump 24/7.
The longest stretch along the E6 without fuel stations is afaik crossing the Saltfjellet (the mountain areas where the artic circle passes) That stretch is around 90 kms and is well marked with a sign saying «last fuel station for 90 kms» There is another stretch inland in the northernmost county of Finnmark, between Karasjok and Kautokeino that is 128 kms where there isnt any fuel. Also between Kautokeino and Alta there is a stretch of around 130 kms with no fuel - inland in Finnmark. If youre coming north through Sweden/Finland or going south. In the top north on the way to Nordkapp there is fuel at: Alta Skaidi Olderfjorden Honningsvåg (slightly detour from the E6, less than a km me thinks) Im from northern Norway btw and I am fairly well known in those areas… And of course if you ride to very remote locations in northern Norway - you have to check out fuel. |
Thanks Snakeboy, glad to know as didn’t want to carry the weight… detailed answer much appreciated, cheers. J.

Snakeboy already answered the question (fuel wont be a problem)
I was up there two summers ago and you it was some of the best riding I have done. You will love it :) Be sure to pack some rain gear, it can cold if it rains (even in summer) |

The Helly Hansen fleece under the leather. That is all we had in those days. Moto Guzzi 850 T 23 liters of fuel => 500 km range No problem (Still 1 000 km to from Polar Circle) |
