Flying Back While On The Road
 

Two of us are planning a trip from US to South America on one bike but we both have parents/ kids at home.
If something untoward happens while we're a few months out is it possible to fly home for a week or two, leaving the bike there?
We won't have a carnet so we'll be doing the temporary importation thing but does this allow brief breaks?
