Well for sure this is the right forum for hairdressing questions! It sure don't fit anywhere else! Hair net of some sort maybe? I am asumming that the problem is hair hanging down under the back of the helmet.

My girlfriend puts her long hair in a plait each day. At the end of the day it's fine & there's rarely any knots etc.
Failing that, it's clipper time....... |
Shave it.

haha! yea, short of shaving it, you could do what I do as I have long hair(ask Susan)...
You need 2 hair bands. Use the first to tie it back in a pony tail and the second to secure the pony tail further down(mine is about 6 cm down from the first band) Next, tuck the whole pony tail INTO your jacket or whatever you're wearing. Since all the hair is now either under the helmet or in the jacket, there is none left to flap in the wind and cause damage. The second band keeps stray hairs from coming out of the jacket and into the wind. ------------------ Improvement makes strait roads, but the crooked roads without Improvement, are roads of Genius - William Blake |
mine did the same thing. about 6 years ago my dog and I loaded up on my bmw with a side hack and took a couple month trip through AK by the time I came home I couldn't even comb it. it's still that way now!! gets worse and worse every trip, easy to take care of now though. just wake up and go. will be at the copper canyon meeting. I've seen stuff in Harley type catalogs for women's hair. Probably more of a problem for them since they don't wear helmets.

Whats wrong with dreadlocks?

Just tress your hair and pull the tress/-es into your jacket or your helmet.
Wind WILL damage your hair. Use a nourishing hair mask weekly or a good nourishing hair oil and a mild conditioner to untangle after shampooing. Better ask a professional hairdresser to get a custom advice. Helmets do a "ironing" effect because they keep sweat into scalp and damp hair roots. This increases flaking. Keep clean your helmet inside to prevent bacterial activity. |
There is a hair conditioner that you can spray on each day, rather than use when you wash your hair. It is made to put directly onto dry hair and not to be washed out. The one I use is put out by a hair product compamy called VO5 but i am sure that there are other brands with a similar product. Worked well when I was on the road for 18 months and am having no trouble on this trip eithter as i bought a lot with me. In a pump spray bottle similar to a pump spray deodorant. If it is not possible to locate a product like that then try a small scarf made from silk that you wrap over your hair before putting on your helmet.
Now, as for getting exhaust pollution off your face. . . that is a lot harder. . . |
