Hassle free ride guaranteed!
My wife and I are planning on riding two Vespas through East Africa. One scooter is in the making (1960 touring with a brand new px200e engine, hydraulic conversions all about, larger wheel conversion, new suspension conversion, electronic ignition conversion, and much more), but we are still contemplating what the other one will be. I figured if we get the one in the picture below, hustlers, touts, beggars, corrupt officials, bandits, and what not, would leave us be. What do you think?

It was fitted with a short manual transmission, a bigger piston but always in 150 cc (like civilian version) and a hole on the legshield to support a gun. It was possible to use this gun when the scooter was running. (but not without some shock!). Theses military vespas were used by French army during Algerian and Indochine conflicts. They were dropped by parachute, that's why they were fitted with tubular bumpers for a protection when they touched the ground. I planned something similar for my 650 dakar, but unfortunately I couldn't find anything suitable in the Touratech catalogue.

Wouldn't count on getting anywhere near the White House or Pentagon. Nor crossing any land borders...
