How to ship a bike with a lien?
I have a lien on my motorcycle becuse it's not paid off yet. Next year(June 2002) I'm planning to ship my bike to Portugal and ride through Europe into Poland for the Harley-Davidson Interrally in Warsaw. My bike still won't be paid off by then but I heard that theres a way of getting your bike overseas even though theres a bank lien. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see a problem. The bike is registered in your name and insured in your name--i presume; so you are the owner, and i presume you will continue to make payments on time, take your bike and enjoy the ride, i have crossed the border from canada to usa on many occasions, and nobody asks if it is paid off. Of course--you will be bringing the bike back--yes !! enjoy

Nobody will ask or care if it's got a lien on it.
That's between you and the bank. ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
I have crossed the Canadian border myself but I have shipped cars before and you must have a title to ship it. I don't have a title it's at the bank. Hopefully it will work out. Thanks everyone.

Hmm, curious, never heard of the bank holding onto the registration document - if that's what you mean when you say "title".
What do you show the police if you get stopped? Don't you have to produce something that says it's yours? That document, if it exists, should be sufficient. You do need something official that says you own the bike, or you will get into trouble. ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
